The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has updated the revised maximum retail prices (MRPs) of 1,085 anti-cancer medicines, with the new rates scheduled to come into effect from November 9, 2026.
The latest revision follows the regulator’s earlier announcement on October 28, when the prices of 543 anti-cancer medicines were revised downward. The updated list now includes 1,085 medicines across different brands.
According to the NPPA, the revised price list reflects information submitted by pharmaceutical companies up to November 3. The regulator said the list would continue to be updated as manufacturers submit revised prices for additional non-scheduled anti-cancer medicines.
The move follows the implementation of trade margin rationalisation on 137 non-scheduled anti-cancer drugs announced on October 17.
The NPPA is responsible for monitoring pharmaceutical prices and ensuring that medicines remain within prescribed limits. Its regulatory measures are aimed at improving affordability and preventing excessive pricing in the pharmaceutical sector.
Cancer treatment often involves prolonged medication, diagnostic procedures and hospital care. The cost of medicines remains a major concern for patients and families, particularly those requiring long-term treatment.
The updated price list is expected to provide patients, hospitals, pharmacies and healthcare providers with information about the revised maximum retail prices.
Patients are advised to check the applicable prices of their prescribed medicines with registered pharmacies after the revised rates come into force.
The NPPA’s ongoing review of non-scheduled anti-cancer medicines forms part of its efforts to monitor drug pricing and improve transparency in the pharmaceutical market.
The regulator has made the revised price information available through its official website.
The latest development is significant for cancer patients who depend on regular access to medicines and face financial challenges during treatment.
