Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan on Thursday inaugurated KAUMARACON 2026, an international conference on Kaumarabhritya, the branch of Ayurveda concerned with child healthcare, at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi.
The Vice-President called for greater scientific research to establish the efficacy of traditional healthcare practices, strengthen patient confidence and improve their acceptance globally.
The conference brings attention to the importance of children’s health, including their growth, development and overall well-being. It provides a platform for researchers, practitioners and academics to discuss traditional approaches to paediatric care and examine how they can be assessed through scientific methods.
Radhakrishnan also highlighted AIIA’s progress and referred to the vision of developing the institute on a par with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. He congratulated the institute on its 10th Foundation Day and stressed the importance of research, innovation and academic excellence.
During the programme, several digital initiatives were launched, including the AYUSH Start-up Portal, the AIIA-iCAINE website, AyuDIVA, the Vamana App and the Panchakarma Assessment App. An agreement was also signed between AIIA and Maharishi International University in the United States.
The initiatives aim to support institutional development, digital engagement and the wider use of technology in traditional medicine.
The conference focuses on the role of evidence-based research in improving healthcare outcomes for children. Scientific evaluation can help establish the safety, effectiveness and appropriate use of healthcare practices, while collaboration between institutions can encourage further research and knowledge exchange.
The event reflects the continuing emphasis on strengthening research and education in traditional systems of medicine and exploring their contribution to healthcare delivery.
Researchers and healthcare professionals are expected to use the conference as an opportunity to exchange findings and discuss future directions in paediatric healthcare.
