Huge Uterine Tumour about 3 Kg Weight has been Successfully Operated and Removed by Surgical Team of Renova Hospitals, Langar Houz

A women patient from Guntur, who is working as a teacher in private school has undergone successful treatment for Cervix Cancer at about 15 years before.  She completed her radiation, chemotherapy treatment successfully and is leading normal life without any traces of cancer.  Recently she developed unbearable pain in her abdomen, backache and body pains and off late the patient developed huge abdominal mass.  With these symptoms the patient has approached several hospitals, which refused to provide solace and advised to get expert opinion.

 

In the process, the patient consulted Dr Rajashree, Consultant Obstetrics & Gynaecologist at Renova Hospitals, Langar Houz.  After thorough examination and evaluation with the help of MRI & CT scans, it was identified that patient has a huge tumour inside the Uterus.  As the patient has history of Cancer Dr Sanjay, an Onco Surgeon from Renova Hospitals team has been roped in to further evaluate the case.  After proper evaluation of the case both the doctors decided to perform a surgery to remove the tumour completely.  Keeping in view of deteriorating situation, the surgery was performed at earliest possible day.

 

During the surgery, doctors team led by Dr Sanjay, Onco Surgeon and Dr Raja Shree, Consultant Obstetrics & Gynaecologist of Renova Hospitals, Langar Houz has successfully perform Hysterectomy with bilateral Salpingoophorectomy along with Omental Lymph nodes and external iliac lymph nodes dissection and complete removal of tumour and its traces has been removed.   The complete Uterus intoto with tumour inside with tubes and ovaries on both sides were removed and the specimens were sent for Histopathological examination.  The total weight of tumour is about 3 kgs.

 

As the post operative period is uneventful and patient recovered well and became healthy, she was discharged from the hospital and suggested to come back to the hospital for further review later.

 

Speaking on the occasion,  Dr Raja Shree, Consultant Obstetrics & Gynaecologist, Renova Hospitals, Langer Houz has explained that the tomour weighed 3 Kgs of weight and such huge tumours are very rarely found in uterus.  Adding further to it, Dr Raja Shree has said that properly diagnosing such heavy tumours is itself a herculean task and removing it completely without any traces requires specialize skills and always a risky affair for both patient and also doctors.  Despite such risks involved, the doctors team is successfully performed the surgery and expressed satisfaction that patient has recovered well post surgery, she said.
